AU Background:
Once upon a time, a boy named John Egbert and his friends Jade Harley, Dave Strider, and Rose Lalonde played a game called SBURB. This game destroyed the world via meteor, and picked these four young heroes up out of their previous lives. SBURB gives each kid their own personal title, something of a challenge to the bearer before the end of the game. The original titles of the kids were as follows:

John Egbert, Heir of Breath
Rose Lalonde, Seer of Light
Dave Strider, Knight of Time
Jade Harley, Witch of Space

If the four could complete the game, successfully create a new world, and defeat the final boss, immortality would be theirs. However, this was never meant to be. Through a series of mistakes, a Derseite (or a creature that lived on one of the moons of Skaia, called Derse) named Jack Noir got his hands on an extraordinarily powerful bunny that carried the highest caliber weapons that the kids could create in game. Using the bunny, he killed the Queen of Derse and took her power, soon after flying to Skaia (the battleground planet in the center of the game’s universe) and destroying all the pawn soldiers before blowing up the other moon, Prospit. The four kids were stuck in a doomed session, destined to never win the game or achieve immortality.

To fix this, the kids devised a plan to Scratch their session, a failsafe measure built into every game in the event that a game ever resulted in failure. Using this Scratch, they resolved to fix their session, despite warnings from an omniscient being named Doc Scratch that they would remember nothing of the previous attempt.

The premise of Red Dead Virgo and Violetescence is that the original canon’s Scratch swapped both the kids and their trolls around, sending them to live with different guardians and thus changing their histories and titles (for better or worse has yet to be determined). The kids in this Jade’s session are now:

Rose Egbert, Seer of Breath
David Lalonde, Knight of Light
Jade Strider, Witch of Time
John Harley, Heir of Space

Jade grew up with Bro Strider in this world, instead of with a dog named Becquerel. Because of this, she was indoctrinated into the world of Cool, where nothing is what it really means and everything's ironic value must be taken into consideration. Instead of becoming rather independent by living on an island, Jade became independent by learning to cope with sword vs. gun fights at every hour of the day and swords instead of food in the fridge. She's coarser than her canon self, cussing like a sailor and proud to consider the food groups "Take Out, Canned, Frozen and Microwaveable." But that doesn't mean that she's completely different. Jade is still a very caring person -- she's utterly devoted to both Bro and her best friends, three people she met online through a chat client called Pesterchum. And just because she knows the rules of irony doesn't mean that she knows how to abide by them; she's quite bad at doing things the 'proper' ironic way, instead liking things in a sincere manner and lying to cover it up.

At the age of 13, Jade (just like her canon self) was called upon to play a game: SBURB Beta. It destroyed the world and stole her and her friends away into a new one, where she was forced to learn the rhythm of time and take her place as the Witch of Time. From there, Jade set about to keep all of her friends safe, jumping back and forth in time.

But she...wasn't very good at it.

Dead Jades piled up by the hundreds -- Jade Strider was never very good at managing temporal mechanics, though at least she was trying. One particular doomed timeline - one in which Rose was killed by one of the trolls, leading to John's death and four months of Jade and David stranded in paradox space - created Jadesprite, a guardian for Jade and also, a source of knowledge. Using knowledge gained from her sprite, Jade attempted to do a little better at the whole keeping her friends alive thing. Unfortunately, that couldn't change an event that was set in time, a temporal fixture: Bro's death. Jade tried -- she tried a lot, hundreds of dead Jades piling up on the side of the battle -- but she couldn't fix what was never meant to be fixed in the first place. One of the trolls, Eridan, eventually had to stop her from making her Bro's last vision the sight of hundreds of dead little sisters.

Of course, the only logical thing to do after that was to try and gain more power, to make sure nothing like that could ever happen again. So she devised a plan to kill herself on her quest bed, a plot that would grant her access to the inner workings of Time itself by allowing her to rise to God Tier. While she stood over her sleeping figure, a doomed Jade allowed to wander, it turned out that the other Jade had similar plans. The Doomed Jade shot Alpha Jade and then let her die on the quest bed, to ascend. Now she's immortal (practically), and ready to deal some serious damage to the one jerk who's caused her friends and family so much misery: Jack Noir.

Personality:
On first look, Jade seems like a reasonably cool and collected person, much like her brother. Bro is the epitome of cool, something that Jade attempts to imitate at every times. However, if Dave Strider was the master of irony, Jade is anything but. Like her canon counterpart, Jade Strider is very optimistic -- she thinks the best of people until proven wrong, even though she hides this feeling. Bro doesn’t act that way, and neither will she, at least most of the time. She does a lot of repressing of her actual feelings, because that’s the cool thing to do. That phrase tends to shape most of her life: the difference in guardians changes Jade from a naive girl who has a bright outlook on life into a slightly obtuse girl who analyzes the world, decides what to keep, and discards the rest. Not that Jade can’t break this cool facade -- actually, she’s horrible at being cool. In a snap, her stoic exterior breaks down into that of a curious little girl. She still loves things simply because they are cute, or simply because they entertain her. However, she’s quick to reassure herself that liking these things is ironic (not that she has any idea what that really means) or cool. She doesn’t want to be seen as uncool; that one thought drives her to try her hardest to succeed at irony, even when it’s obvious that she’s a failure at the idea.

The reason she continues to try despite the fact that she knows of her lameness is double sided. One part is a very external force: she adores her brother. To Jade, he is the sole role model in her life, as well as the best (and only) Bro she’s ever had. She emulates him because she wants to be exactly like him, from the way he speaks to the way he attracts the Ladies. To that point, she even forgets what she is -- for example, sometimes she forgets that she’s really a girl, because she models herself after Bro so much. Jade simply wants to try her hardest to be him, and even her failure won’t stop her from trying. To stop trying would be to disappoint herself, and she thinks Bro as well. That would be the deepest injustice for her, and something that would really pain her. So she keeps trying despite her faults.

Jade is a very determined person -- where Jade Harley was determined to the point that she would fight for her friends, Jade Strider is someone who will fight the wall, even when she knows she’ll lose. It’s a little bit of inherent selfishness and a little bit of fear: she knows that she can’t possibly change things, but wants them to be right for her own sake. Jade doesn’t know when to stop. She will keep fighting until it’s too late for herself. Self-sacrifice is almost an old thing for her; she’s given up her life to change time so many times that seeing herself dead almost stops taking a toll. But she’ll keep on killing herself if that’s what it takes. Eridan finally convinces her to stop because that’s all Bro will see as he’s killed time after time -- a mountain of dead Jades. She has problems thinking of other people; really, Jade can be selfish, though it’s easy enough to make her realize when she’s being stupid.

Though it’s not something she likes to admit, she’s learned about fear in her own ways. It’s something that she would never tell a single soul -- if she can hide her faults, then she just seems that much more cool. But she’s not impenetrable. The clouds on Prospit scare her with their visions when she’s young, enough so that she refuses to go to sleep for days on end, ruining her vision by staring at the computer screen through sunglasses. She doesn’t want the future to happen, and so she hides from it. Of course, nothing can stop a fixed event from taking place, as much as she denies it. Even Bro’s death can’t be stopped, but she does her best to put that dream out of her mind. She rejects this reality so much that she stops dreaming on Prospit and has nightmares instead, which are scary, but not as scary as what’s real. Jade just isn’t used to loss -- she can’t figure out how to deal with it, and so she pretends it doesn’t exist, until she’s forced to accept the consequences and live with the facts.

She’s a very physical person -- living with Bro has taught Jade to react first and think later. If she’s annoyed, she’ll punch you; even her friends are not spared a punch or two to the shoulder. Jade doesn’t really understand the idea of comfort being a physical thing. To her, comfort isn’t really something that can be quantified with hugs. It’s feeling angry and sad and jealous and all the emotions she tends to hide away. While being cool is all about keeping your emotions in check, Jade Strider releases them when they get to be too much, often letting everyone know what she thinks in the process. She fights until her anger is gone, releasing every negative feeling until she thinks it’s better. However, she is capable of holding a grudge -- if someone were to hurt her brother or one of her friends, she would never forgive them. Take Jack Noir as an example; Jade vows to never give up until he’s dead. She would die a hundred times if it ensured the fact that he was torn into pieces. He killed her brother; there’s no mercy in the world for someone who takes away a person that she loves.

Friends and relatives hold a special place in Jade’s life. She’s never really talked to anyone outside of them -- this often leads to some confusion when she’s confronted with awkward or different situations. It’s not that she doesn’t like the people she would meet; Jade is actually a very trusting person, though she tends to appear otherwise. Her instant reaction is to like someone, and only dislikes them actively after they’ve shown her dishonesty or abused her loyalty. However, the Rules of Irony keep her from being openly affectionate -- a compliment is twisted into an ironic slight that may have some strange compliment in there, maybe. She’s not so good at hiding the compliment part, sometimes. But she can come off as a little ornery and disagreeable at times, especially whens he’s hiding behind her red text. From there, she’s safe to do what she wants. However, she’s not rough and ready all the time -- Jade cares for people, and feels bad when she outright insults them, unless they deserve it (and for her, people sometimes deserve a punch on the arm or being told that they’re dumb). But for people who know her well, she can almost be sweet, in her own lopsided way. She tries to impress her friends by telling them how cool she is, and they reaffirm this; if there’s something that Jade wants more of, it’s people telling her that she’s doing it right. Putting herself down is something she can do in her spare time. It elates her to spend time with her friends, even though they’re text on a screen and living thousands of miles away. To her, they are precious, people to be revered. Even David, who she shares a slightly antagonistic relationship with, is worth his weight in gold. Jade would never give up any of her friends, and certainly wouldn’t let them die. She would attempt to change the future millions of times, if only to find the one timeline in which they all can live happily ever after. For even though she’s seen positively horrendous things in the game, there is nothing that can replace her friends in terms of happiness. They are the people who make her feel comfortable with who she is, in their own weird ways. Because they’re odd together, it doesn’t make her feel so bad. She would do absolutely anything for them. Even if she sidestepped the issue in a cool kid way, Jade would never let a single friend down. Once you have Jade Strider’s trust, it’s yours to keep for life.

Abilities:
+ Sylladex: not necessarily an ability, but definitely a data structure that, for all we know, is implanted within the heros' minds as features, like in a computer. Jade's sylladex is set to 'hashmap,' and she's rather horrible at keeping it all organized.
+ Time Powers: As the Witch of Time, Jade is able to manipulate time and organize what are called 'stable time loops,' which keep all the heros of SBURB alive. She can go back in time as well as forward, using her bass guitar. These slight differences in time create many, many Jades -- in canon, there were at least 13 of the Hero of Time running around at once, and not all of them get to live. Jade can actually change the future with her powers, and she frequently does so, because she's not very good at keeping everything under control. No one's really sure how the Time powers work, but her ability can influence certain routes for the future (though there are some things that just can't change, like her Bro's death).
+ God Tier Powers: Jade also has standard god tier powers, which include the ability to fly (and float!) as well as standard god tier immortality. Now, she can no longer truly die unless she dies making a heroic act, or if she's killed for a just reason (like killing a mass murderer). If she dies from anything else, she will simply pop back up and live again, with a clean god hoodie to boot.
+ Excellent Marksmanship: As a girl who's been using guns since she could walk, Jade is extremely talented with a gun (all guns, any guns). She's great aim, though it weakens when she's upset, and can shoot small targets from long distances.
+ Also she can play a mean riff on the bass guitar.
